Lighting Outside Sales – Contractor
Our client, a well-established and trusted liaison between top lighting producers and buyers, is seeking an experienced Lighting Outside Sales Executive – Contractor to join their dynamic team. With a strong reputation for offering high-quality lighting products and an open-door policy that fosters long-term relationships, the company is experiencing significant growth and looking to expand its sales team. This position will focus on cultivating and maintaining relationships with contractors, as well as helping clients make informed purchasing decisions for lighting products.
As a Lighting Outside Sales Executive – Contractor, you will use your knowledge of lighting and electrical systems to develop new business opportunities and foster strong, lasting relationships with contractors in the commercial construction industry. Your primary responsibility will be to represent the company’s products in the field, building trust and offering tailored solutions that meet the needs of contractors and their projects.

Focus:
- Build and nurture contractor relationships within your assigned sales region, becoming the go-to expert for lighting solutions.
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities, focusing on contractor and commercial construction projects.
- Proactively understand contractors’ needs and provide solutions tailored to their specific lighting requirements.
- Work closely with contractors and project managers, providing product recommendations, technical support, and expertise to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Negotiate and close deals with contractors, managing cost discussions and ensuring clear communication about pricing and value proposition.
- Represent the company at various industry events, including trade shows and contractor meetings, to increase brand awareness and build trust.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including sales managers and design-build teams, to deliver solutions that meet contractor needs.
- Engage in regular product training and industry education to maintain your expertise and stay ahead of trends in lighting and commercial construction.
Skill Set:
- 5+ years of sales experience in lighting or electrical sectors, with a focus on commercial construction and contractor relationships.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong contractor relationships, offering tailored lighting solutions.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with experience working directly with contractors and project managers.
- Comfortable working in a commission-based environment, with a track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple contractor relationships and projects efficiently.
- Knowledge of design-build processes and lighting systems for large-scale commercial projects is highly preferred.
